The Salt Float Pod

The Salt

Float Pod

Salt Float Pods (also known as: isolation tanks, floatation therapy tanks, and sensory deprivation chambers) are typically filled with a solution made of water and about 25-30% Epsom salt, and maintained at a temperature of approximately 92-96°F / 33.3-35.6°C. The float pod is also quiet and dark. This gives you a sensory deprivation experience that will encourage you to go into a quiet, meditative state while floating. The salt in the solution will also help you with stress relief and sooth your pains and aches.

Benefits of Salt Float Pod Therapy

Float pods provide a unique sensory deprivation experience that can help you relax and relieve stress. There are many health benefits associated with float therapy. Floatation therapy can help improve your mood, relieve stress and anxiety, increase creativity, focus, and promote better sleep. In addition, float pod therapy can also help relieve pain, improve flexibility, range of motion, and help boost immunity.

The main benefit of using a sensory deprivation pod is to ease mental anxiety and muscle tension. You can fully relax all of your muscles when floating. This is similar to experiencing zero gravity.

This vastly improves your circulation and allows your body to rejuvenate and heal itself. Research shows that floating measurably reduces your blood pressure and heart rate while at the same time lowering stress levels. The effects of floating on your brain are also quite remarkable. The sensory deprivation slows your brain waves until they reach the theta state. This state is most common during deep meditation or just before falling asleep and allows for the release of endorphins, the body’s natural opiates.

Floating in a pod can also relieve migraines and provide stress relief and detoxification since Epsom salts are high in magnesium, which can remove harmful substances such as free radicals from your body. Free radicals are small particles that can damage your cells and increase inflammation, resulting in the development of conditions such as cancer and autoimmune disorders. Magnesium can also promote bone and heart health, and even improve insulin
sensitivity, which can help prevent diabetes.

Float Therapy reduces High Blood Pressure

This allows your blood vessels to dilate fully, immediately lower your blood pressure and maximizes how much oxygen, red blood cells, and blood your body is receiving. The Epsom salt that you absorb during a floatation session will also assist in reducing high blood pressure

Float Therapy helps with neck, back and nerve pain

Floatation therapy is commonly used to treat pinched nerves, pulled and achy muscles, knee injuries and many other physical injuries. Flotation therapy suspends the user in a gravity free environment. This promotes a deep level of relaxation, which prompts the body to naturally heal itself from the inside out. By reach such a deep state of relaxation, flotation therapy can help degenerative disc disease, herniated disks, sciatica, as well as neck, shoulder, back, and joint pain.

Float Therapy helps with inflammation

The primary benefits of float therapy are reducing inflammation in your muscles and joints and freeing your mind of distractions. As you float, the salt also acts as a detox for your cells with its magnesium base.

Frequently Asked Questions

Salt float pods tanks are very clean. High salt concentrations contain sparingly few microorganisms. Float pods are filled with a solution made of water and about 25%-30% Epsom salt (MgSO4 •7H20). The concentration of Epsom salt has a significant impact on the chemistry of the solution, making it very difficult for pathogens to grow or even survive. Float pods also employ a filtration process that happens between each float (and each user). The minimum of three turnovers between each user set forth in this standard will allow 95% of the float tank solution to be filtered. Four turnovers will achieve about 98% filtration. To minimize the risk of infection, you should wear earplugs and shower before and after the floating session. If you have cuts anywhere on your body, it may be a better idea not to float until you are fully healed. Make sure to also lay face up when floating so your eyes, nose, and mouth will not come in direct contact with the salt solution.
