How Red Light Therapy Works
Red Light Therapy, also known as photobiomodulation or low-level laser therapy, works by exposing the skin to concentrated wavelengths of red and near-infrared light. These wavelengths penetrate deep into the skin’s layers, stimulating cellular energy production and promoting various biological processes within the body.

633nm (Red Light)

Once you have decided to try Red Light Therapy, you can book an appointment online. A confirmation email will follow as well as additional information and waivers that need to be signed before your first appointment.

Please show up early to ensure staff has the time to properly guide you through the facility. Be sure to listen to the staff’s instructions on how to use the Red Light Therapy bed and what to expect. The day of your RLT session, be sure to eat a light meal and avoid caffeine. Please avoid wearing any perfumes.

Once you are in the RLT room, it is important to relax. You may also want to focus on your breath and practice some deep breathing exercises. It is common to be distracted and start thinking about your daily activities, acknowledge this and bring back you focus to breathing and relaxing. The experience can be catered to your needs, so be sure to communicate with the staff if you have any questions or concerns.

To help you relax and get the most out of your session, it is recommended to avoid caffeine for (4) hours before attending the salt room.

  • Arrive at our wellness center, SHOW UP EARLY
  • ENTER THE SECURED RED LIGHT THERAPY ROOM
  • REMOVE SHOES, UNDERGARMENTS ARE OPTIONAL
  • RELAX FOR UP TO 15 MINUTES
  • EXIT THE RED LIGHT THERAPY ROOM

During a red light therapy session, you will be exposed to red or near-infrared light, emitted from our specialized RLT bed. It is recommended to wear undergarments or go nude to allow the light to reach your skin effectively. The session will take place in a private, quiet, comfortable environment to promote relaxation.

Once the session begins, you will be in a lying position and in close proximity to the red light therapy bed, with the light directed towards all areas of the body during the session. The duration of the session is 10-15 minutes in duration.

During the session, you may experience a sensation of warmth or mild tingling as the light penetrates your skin. Many people find the experience to be soothing and relaxing, akin to basking in sunlight.

After the session is complete, you can resume your normal activities immediately. Some individuals may notice immediate benefits, such as improved mood or reduced pain, while others may experience the full effects over time with regular sessions.

While red light therapy is considered safe for most individuals, there are certain circumstances where it may not be advisable. Here are some important reasons not to use red light therapy:

  • If you have photosensitivity
  • If you have active Cancer
  • If you have had recent steroid use
  • If you have eye conditions (Retinal Detachment, Glaucoma)
  • If you have skin lesions or infections
  • If you have implanted medical devices (Pacemakers, Defibrillators)
  • If you have medication interactions (Photosensitizing Drugs)
  • If you are Pregnant (should consult with your Medical Professional)
